For the third time in 4 months, Oyo State is dealing with unusual cases of kidnapping .
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, he asked , ‘Are we being targeted? Are we under organised siege? Are these uncommon decoys to distract us?’ Is this a political attack targeting Schorlaship and Conviction?’
The Commissioner was reacting to the reported kidnapping of 18 Oyo State students coming back home from Sokoto State over the weekend.
He recalled that on Friday, May 15, students and teachers from Oriire Local Government were abducted and spent 56 days in captivity in harrowing circumstances.
Having studied the surrounding debacle, Gov. Seyi Makinde instituted a Judicial Panel of Inquiry led by Justice (Professor) Mojeed on July 31 and the Panel report was only submitted last week.
The Commissioner recalled that not a little curiosity was raised when the Panel was instituted, but by now, even doubting Thomases must be wondering about what really is going on.
Ever since the submission of the report, two serial kidnapping attacks have been foisted on Oyo State.
‘And we ask; Is this a coincidence? If it is, it is one too many’…
He said oyo state citizens are an integral part of Nigeria and deserve to know those who are attempting to stifle our Liberty to knowledge, scholarship and political Liberty’
