As the primaries ahead of the 2026 local government elections draws nearer, Hon. Kamal Ganiyu, popularly known as “The GreatKamal,” on Thursday formally presented his chairmanship ambition to the leaders and stakeholders of Ibadan North West Local Government, seeking their support and blessings for his aspiration.
The meeting, held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, brought together respected leaders and stakeholders of the local government, providing an opportunity for the chairmanship hopeful to outline his vision for inclusive and people-centred grassroots governance.
The consultation with the leaders and stakeholders such as the Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government; Hon Rahman Adepoju, S. A Federal Constituency; Alhaji Ishola Labule among others.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Kamal Ganiyu expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for his commitment to grassroots development and the continued strengthening of democratic governance in the state. He said the governor’s leadership has created opportunities for capable and committed individuals to aspire to public office.
He also lauded the leaders and stakeholders of Ibadan North West Local Government for their unwavering commitment, sacrifices, and guidance in building the party and promoting unity within the local government. He appealed for their support, prayers, and wise counsel as he seeks the party’s mandate.
Hon. Kamal Ganiyu assured the leaders that, if given the opportunity to serve, his administration would focus on transparent leadership, community development, youth and women empowerment, improved infrastructure, and policies that would enhance the welfare of residents across the local government.
“I seek your support and blessings as I offer myself to serve. Together, we can build a more progressive, united, and prosperous Ibadan North West Local Government,” he said.
The meeting ended with goodwill messages from leaders and stakeholders, who encouraged continued consultations and peaceful political engagement as preparations for the forthcoming local government elections gather momentum.
