As Nigeria commemorated Democracy Day, the leadership of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC) joined millions of citizens in celebrating the nation’s democratic journey while applauding the growing wave of public support behind the movement to eliminate malaria across the country.
In a joint Democracy Day message, the Initiator of the Geneith Health Competition and Managing Director of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Iloabanafor, alongside the Chairman of Geneith Pharmaceuticals and Sponsor of the initiative, Prince Ilobanafor , announced that the competition—powered by Coatal Forte Softgel—continues to attract overwhelming participation from young Nigerians, student leaders, and community advocates nationwide. They described the increasing enthusiasm as evidence of a national awakening and a renewed commitment to public health transformation.
The leaders noted that Democracy Day symbolizes more than political freedom, emphasizing that true national progress must also include freedom from preventable diseases that continue to affect millions of Nigerians. According to them, the growing interest in the Geneith Health Competition reflects the determination of young people to take ownership of the country’s health future and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Their message comes at a significant moment following the passage of the National Agency for Malaria Elimination Bill by the Nigerian Senate, a landmark legislative development widely regarded as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s fight against malaria. The GHC leadership commended the initiative and expressed support for the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to prioritize healthcare, disease prevention, and improved public health outcomes as critical pillars of national development.
Speaking on the significance of the campaign, Mr Emmanuel Umenwa stressed that malaria elimination is both achievable and necessary. He cited examples of countries that have successfully overcome the disease, maintaining that Nigeria possesses the resources, expertise, and human capacity required to achieve the same feat. He added that future generations deserve to inherit a healthier society built on the commitment and sacrifices of today’s citizens.
Umenwa further identified students and young people as the driving force behind the movement, noting that their creativity, innovation, and energy position them as powerful agents of change capable of transforming health outcomes across communities nationwide.
Echoing this sentiment, Iloabanafor described the increasing number of youths seeking to join the initiative as proof that Nigerians are ready to take collective action against malaria. According to him, the steady influx of prospective participants demonstrates a growing national consciousness and a willingness among citizens to support causes that directly improve lives and strengthen communities.
He called on stakeholders across the public and private sectors to sustain awareness efforts and keep the fight against malaria firmly in the national spotlight. He also urged students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions to embrace their roles as Anti-Malaria Ambassadors and champion grassroots advocacy campaigns within their respective communities.
The GHC leadership emphasized that defeating malaria requires a united effort involving government, the private sector, educational institutions, community leaders, development partners, and ordinary citizens. They called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to translate policy initiatives into measurable impact and ensure that the vision of a malaria-free Nigeria becomes a reality.
As the nation celebrates another year of democratic governance, the Geneith Health Competition leadership challenged Nigerians to be more determined in the fight against malaria. They described the campaign as a national movement capable of safeguarding lives, strengthening communities, and securing a healthier future for generations to come.
Registration for the Geneith Health Competition remains ongoing, with students across Nigeria continuing to enroll through www.geneithhealthcompetition.com as the movement gains momentum in its mission to eliminate malaria and transform the nation’s health landscape.
