Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, honored His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olu Falae, the former minister of finance and secretary to the military government of Ibrahim Babangida, at the launch of his autobiography, “Triumph of Grace,” held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.
Governor Makinde, the chief launcher, was represented by his Deputy, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal.
The Deputy Governor, who explained Governor Makinde’s absence due to his involvement in strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general election, described Baba Falae as an enigma, a consummate administrator, and a statesman.
He also announced the Oyo Governor’s donation of ten million naira.
The event attracted millions more from donors like Ondo State Governor, Aiyedatiwa, Chief Bode George, Babagana Kingibe, Olusegun Mimiko, including several individuals and political groups such as SDP, and a host of others.
At the event, President Bola Tinubu was represented by his Secretary to State Government, George Akume, while Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the chief host, commended Baba Falae’s service to national development.
Former Governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, the book reviewer, highlighted Oba Falae’s journey from nobility to successful farmer, community leader, and influential figure.
Notable attendees included Alhaji Yayale Ahmed (representing Alhaji Abubaka Soami), former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, and others. Yayale Ahmed, represented by General Abdul-Salam Abubakar, described the celebrant as a man of integrity, resilience, and kindness, highlighting his contributions to national development and community service.
