Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah worldwide on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
In a statement released on Friday, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude for the successful completion of Ramadan, culminating in the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
He praised Muslims for their dedication and perseverance during the holy month, which is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam.
Barr. Lawal encouraged the faithful to uphold the values learned from the Quran and Hadith throughout Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of charity, humility, peace, forgiveness, love, and sacrifice beyond the fasting period.
Highlighting the significance of unity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds, the Deputy Governor urged residents of Oyo State to strengthen community bonds and promote harmony.
He also called on individuals to extend support to the less privileged, underscoring that Eid is a time for sharing, kindness, and inclusivity.
Barr. Lawal however urged Muslims to seek God’s guidance and pray for the leadership of Oyo State and Nigeria, highlighting that peace is essential for the state’s economic stability.
“I congratulate my fellow Muslims on this joyous occasion. Let’s celebrate in moderation, remain watchful, and be mindful of our surroundings for personal and public safety. I also urge the youth to celebrate responsibly and avoid violence.
“Religious leaders should continue to foster harmony by guiding the faithful, promoting peace, tolerance, and unity. Eidukum Mubarak,” the statement read.
Barr. Lawal, while leading top government functionaries to Agodi praying ground on Friday, relayed Governor Seyi Makinde’s message and congratulated the Muslim ummah for the completion of Ramadan while urging them to maintain peace and be vigilant during the festivities.
