Oyo State Politics : The Initial Gra-Gra And The Choice Before Lovers Of Good Governance // Deji Ola

Politics, by its very nature, attracts ambition. But when ambition becomes hurried, self-centred and disconnected from the people, it loses purpose and direction. Recent political gra-gra in Oyo State clearly reflects this reality, early noise driven not by service, but by impatience.

History has taught us that governance is not won by haste or desperation; it is earned through trust, performance and continuity. The people of Oyo State are no longer political experimenters. They have tested governance that puts people first, and they have tasted the benefits of stability, planning and sincerity of purpose under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

This administration did not rush into governance; it studied the problems, listened to the people, and delivered results across infrastructure, education, health, security, agribusiness and civil service reforms. Roads were not built for headlines but for impact. Policies were not announced for applause but for sustainability. Governance returned to the people, not to a privileged few.

It is therefore no surprise that the good people of Oyo State are not ready to “go back to Egypt.” They remember the years of stagnation, empty promises and leadership disconnected from reality. They remember a time when government served interests, not citizens. That chapter is firmly closed.

Those engaging in hasty political moves ahead of 2027 must understand one thing clearly: Oyo people now vote with memory, evidence and conviction. They will not trade tested progress for uncertainty. They will not abandon a working system for trial-and-error politics.

Continuity is not about individuals; it is about preserving a vision that works. The Makinde administration has laid a solid foundation—financial discipline, institutional strength and inclusive development. The next administration must rise from this same philosophy of people-centred governance, not from personal ambition or political shortcuts.

As 2027 approaches, the choice before lovers of good governance is simple: move forward with a system that delivers or regress into a past the people have clearly rejected. Oyo State has chosen progress, and that progress will produce the next administration.

The future belongs to continuity.
The people have spoken through results.
