Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has inspected ongoing Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) roads and market improvement projects in some Ibadan Local Government Areas.

This included the Alako-Idiya-Batake-Olowa Farm settlement road in Ido Local Government; the Adebayo-Alata-Aba Oje road in Oluyole Local Government; and the Okudi-Oyada road, including Oja Agbe in Akanran, Ona Ara Local Government Areas.

During the inspection on Thursday, the Deputy Governor observed that the projects are nearing completion, with a target delivery date in March.

Barr. Lawal, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, and other officials, stressed the importance of quality and timely project completion.

He highlighted that the RAAMP projects are part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration’s efforts to enhance rural infrastructure, boost agricultural productivity, and create a better environment for farmers and traders.

The Deputy Governor also noted that the road projects in Ido span about 38km and in Oluyole about 8km.

According to him, these roads, which are about 65% complete, will improve the movement of farm inputs and are expected to be completed within the next two months.

In addition, he mentioned that the warehouse and lock-up shops projects in Akanran are for farmers and traders, which is key to economic development.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting contractors to ensure the projects meet standards and are completed within the stipulated time.

Barr. Lawal however encouraged the contractors to include a police station and clinic in the projects, as well as ensuring a consistent water supply in the market, noting that the projects are key to the economic development of Ona Ara Local Government and Oyo State, as they will attract people from various areas, including Ogun State, to the market.

“As you can see, the market women are excited with the development, and I can assure you that in the next two to three months, the projects would be commissioned,” the Deputy Governor stated.
