The Edwin Clark University (ECU), Kiagbodo, Delta State, has conferred the degree of Doctor of Management Science D. MSc (Honoris Causa) in Entrepreneurial Finance and Management on the founder of Ultra Goldfield Logistics Limited, United Kingdom, Mr. ‘Bade Adeshina.

Adeshina was conferred with the honorary degree on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the ECU auditorium shortly after the combined convocation lecture entitled “Africa’s Digital Destiny: Building Human Capital for a Connected Future.” The lecture will be delivered by Mr. Davide Daser, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Bridge Institute.

‘Bade Adeshina holds B.Sc and M.Sc degrees. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), a fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD), and a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM). He also holds professional qualifications from the United Kingdom. Adeshina is a renowned finance professional, consummate leader and management executive with almost four decades of experience across academics, commercial and investment banking, discount house operations, asset management and public service.

His career has traversed the private and public sectors in top leadership positions, culminating at the C-suite level. He boasts significant international exposure through studies, professional engagements and executive education at globally recognised institutions including Harvard Business School, Stanford University Business School, Kellogg Business School, Wharton Business School and Lagos Business School.

As a fellow of several professional bodies including the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria (CPIN), Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM) and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Adeshina is also a member of the Chartered Securities and Investment Institute, MCSI (UK). His experience has been applied at board levels in leading corporate entities.

‘Bade, as he is fondly called, is the Founder and Director of Ultra Goldfield Logistics Limited based in the United Kingdom. The company specialises in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning software technology to improve efficiency in the logistics industry using metrics such as pricing, route optimisation and vehicle storage capacity.

He also served as a member of the Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), where he played a key role in the peaceful separation of the university and chaired the Finance and General Purpose Committee. ‘Bade is a renowned speaker, facilitator and author of numerous publications both locally and internationally. He belongs to clubs such as Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos Country Club and Club Arcade. He is happily married with children and grandchildren.

In his acceptance speech, Adeshina expressed profound gratitude for the honour, noting that the recognition strengthens his belief that steady service, ethical leadership and commitment to learning remain essential for building strong institutions and a stronger nation. He acknowledged that his journey in finance, governance and institutional development has been shaped by education, divine guidance and the support of colleagues and family.

He noted that the award was not only a personal honour, but also a reminder to continue contributing where his skills and experience can make meaningful impact. He expressed hope that his story will inspire young Nigerians to pursue excellence with discipline and lead with integrity wherever they find themselves.

‘Bade shared this honorary award with notable personalities including former President Goodluck Jonathan, who received a D. Sc (Honoris Causa) during the maiden convocation of the universe rsity in 2019 after the governing council found him deserving.

This year’s convocation is historic as it features the combined 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th ceremonies, as well as the induction of the university’s first ever Nursing Science graduands, marking a major expansion in its health sciences programme.
