President Bola Tinubu has asked the senate to confirm the appointment of three non-career ambassadors.
Tinubu made the request in a letter addressed to the senate and read on Wednesday by Godswill Akpabio, the senate president.
Tinubu said the nominations were made in accordance with section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 constitution (as amended).
The nominees are Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke.
“The list contains three names for now. I am sure others will follow,” Akpabio said after reading the letter from Tinubu.
Since taking office in 2023, the President has yet to appoint any ambassadors, a delay that has drawn criticism.
