Chairman of Geneith Pharmaceuticals Ltd and sponsor of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC), Chief Emmanuel Umenwa alongside Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, MD/CEO of CEOAfrica and initiator of the GHC, which is powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, have extended heartfelt congratulations to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, following his recent recognition as one of the 100 most influential global figures shaping healthcare worldwide.

This accolade serves as a testament to his unwavering dedication and significant contributions towards creating a healthier Nigeria.

In a joint statement signed by both Chief Umenwa and Prince Ilobanafor, they expressed that Prof. Pates recognition is not only an honor but also a testament to his transformative leadership and innovative contributions to health system reforms, both nationally and internationally. “We are proud to congratulate you on this well-deserved honor,

it symbolizes the profound impact you have made in shaping healthcare perspectives globally,” the statement read.

GHC noted that this accomplishment sheds light on Nigerias growing visibility in global health leadership and aligns seamlessly with the broader goals of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to implement life-enhancing reforms across various sectors.
Additionally, the statement acknowledged Prof. Pate’s extensive contributions to primary healthcare, particularly during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA). “Your steadfast commitment to healthcare system reforms, health equity, and strengthening primary healthcare is commendable,” they remarked, praising his efforts to revitalize frontline health facilities and expand the community health workforce, essential for improving maternal, newborn, and child health services.

The statement further emphasized Prof. Pate’s instrumental role in advancing Nigeria’s efforts to combat malaria, particularly through the rollout of malaria vaccines. “This strategic move is critical in tackling malaria, which accounts for nearly 65 percent of clinical visits in our country,” they emphasized.

The organization also commended the Ministers governance approach, focusing on fostering partnerships among government entities, development partners, and the private sector, which has enhanced transparency and attracted necessary investments in the healthcare space.

Regarding pharmaceutical development, GHC praised Prof. Pates commitment to local drug manufacturing, describing it as a transformative shift capable of enhancing Nigerias health sovereignty and strengthening the pharmaceutical value chain.
However, GHC drew attention to recent tensions within the health sector, urging Prof. Pate to demonstrate leadership by facilitating inclusive dialogue and ensuring equitable treatment for all healthcare professionals. As a global health leader, we trust you to uphold the rule of law and guarantee that all health workers enjoy their rightful benefits and privileges, the statement added. Your vision, moral integrity, and empathy must guide your decision-making as you navigate the complexities of Nigerias healthcare landscape.
The organization underscored the significance of collaborative healthcare practices and encouraged Prof. Pate to continue promoting team-based approaches, which have proven to be effective in health systems worldwide. “Despite the complexity of our health challenges,

we believe you are well-positioned to develop sustainable solutions that encourage interprofessional cooperation,” they concluded.
In conclusion, the GHC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and partnering with the government to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Nigeria. They wished Prof. Pate continued success in his role, stating, We assure you of our steadfast support as you lead initiatives to transform Nigerias healthcare landscape for the better.
