The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, hosted a gathering of prominent individuals at his Bashorun residence in Ibadan on Tuesday for Iftar, the evening meal to break the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
Among the guests in attendance were Commissioner for Energy, Daud Sangodoyin; Governor Seyi Makinde’s ally, Babatunde Tijani (Double T); Professor Wale Omole, LAUTECH Governing Council; Dr. Aremu Lasisi, Rector Polytechnic Ibadan; and Alhaji Abideen Adeaga, Chairman Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), among others.
The Deputy Governor, who has been organizing Iftar events for Muslims and various Islamic organizations since the beginning of Ramadan, reiterated his commitment to promoting Islam in the state.
He expressed gratitude to his guests for joining him to break fast and emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunities presented by Ramadan for good deeds.
Barr. Lawal however urged Muslims to pray for peace and harmony in Oyo State, stating that the current administration under Governor Seyi Makinde is committed to fairness to all religions.
Speaking on behalf of the guests, Professor Ajiboye, former Director-General of Nigeria Teachers Institute, commended the Deputy Governor’s kindness, humility, simplicity, and approachable nature.
He thanked God for Barr. Lawal’s life and appreciated the opportunity to attend the Iftar gathering, which he noted was a repeat of last year’s event.
