*A message of Concern*
Let us stop pretending.
As a people of Oyo State especially the political elites, opinion leaders, and public commentators we have all collectively failed this state, the system and the poor of poor people of the state,
Governor Seyi Makinde, the outgoing governor of Oyo State, is today sitting on a political hot seat, absorbing attacks and condemnations, not because he has suddenly become a failure, but because power hunters are desperate.Understandable this is politics and the act of Politicking which was equally a tool he used to power, dirty, emotional, and ruthless.
Sadly, this same brand of politics has remained the biggest obstacle to progress in the Pace Setter State.
History did not start with Gomina Seyi Makinde. When the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi was in his second term, Oga delivered the results we all reference today because he was bold, and …… when necessary, powered street-wise, and deeply rooted in native intelligence. Yet, hatred, betrayal, and ego mostly injected by people within his own political family slowed governance, changed the narrative and poisoned the entire political and administrative system. That same bitterness of aggrieved politicians weakened the administration and laid landmines for the government that followed.
Fast forward to today. The same political gladiators, many of whom sabotaged Sen.Ajimobi’s succession plan have regrouped. *Their mission is familiar deny Oyo State continuity, deny the people stability, and deny history another Koseleri.* Why? Because they believe power is their inheritance, not a mandate.
I therefore challenge every Oyo State politician and politically knowledgeable indigene, friends and followers to stand up and tell us clearly the sins of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi that justified rebellion against his Excellency’s continuity project. Then do the same for Engineer Seyi Makinde. We should all stop hiding behind propaganda, sponsored outrage, and emotional blackmail.
Let the people judge facts, not noise.
No administrator is perfect, least of all the governor and government of Oyo State.
This state is not simple. Oyo is complex in people, politics, governance, and expectations. What works effortlessly elsewhere can be sacrilege here; what is taboo in other states may be normal survival strategy in Oyo. Governing Oyo requires experience, patience, and political maturity, not social media activism or roadside populism.
Governor Seyi Makinde has done his part. He is not returning to the ballot as a Gomina aspirant. As a human being and a leader approaching the end of his tenure, he is attempting to secure continuity just as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu did in Lagos State. Yet, Oyo’s political complexity has inflated the egos of individuals who have never carried executive responsibility, never worked in a structureless environment, never managed crisis, yet parade themselves as messiahs of poverty and self-appointed saviours of the people.
Let us be honest, Oyo State does not need loud ambition, it needs tested leadership who had studied governance under the tutelage of the architect and builder of modern Oyo state.
It does not need entitlement, it needs experience.
It does not need recycled political betrayals, it needs continuity and courage.
History is watching. The people are wiser. And Oyo State deserves better than this endless cycle of sabotage disguised as opposition.
I say no more…🤔
