Oyo State Government has approved a temporary take‑off site for the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO).
The announcement was made by the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul‑Raheem Adebayo Lawal, on Friday.
During a visit from the Egbe Omo Ibile, Okeho—led by the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha Adeitan II, the Onjo of Okeho—the Deputy Governor disclosed that the Makinde administration had granted Awoyemi Commercial High School, Okeho, as the temporary site for FUNATO.
He added that the government is working to secure 1,000 acres of land to ensure a smooth start for the university and will relocate students to the SUBEB building provided for the school.
Barr. Lawal reiterated that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration remains committed to supporting education in the state and highlighted several development achievements in the Oke‑Ogun zone.
The Onjo of Okeho had visited the Deputy Governor at the instance of some youths in Okeho regarding their unruly behavior during last Saturday’s Okeho Day celebration.
The Deputy Governor, however, emphasized that he was not angry and that the matter had been fully resolved.
He reiterated his commitment to the development of the Oke‑Ogun zone while also pledging his continuous support for FUNATO.
