Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members for their peaceful conduct at the National Convention held on November 15-16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasigba, Ibadan.

He expressed confidence that the convention will lead to a strong and formidable PDP that will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

In a statement on Saturday, Barr. Lawal said the peaceful conduct and huge turnout of delegates and members indicate that the PDP remains strong and formidable despite recent crises.

He attributed the party’s strength to its commitment to producing governments of the people, by the people, and for the people.

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde and the Convention Planning Committee for hosting a fair, open, and rancour-free convention, highlighting the presence of delegates from across Nigeria as a testament to the party’s democratic values.

Barr. Lawal however expressed optimism that the National Convention will be a turning point for PDP, positioning the party for the 2027 general election.

He equally described the convention as a rebirth of the PDP, making it formidable and strong enough to take over power from the APC-led government in 2027.

The Deputy Governorl urged the new National Working Committee to reach out to aggrieved members and work towards restoring the PDP to its rightful position.
