In a prematured move some PDP members are surprised that their party is at the crossroads as as a running battle for its soul escalates. The actors at the center of it all have diverse motives surface. Most people are at a loss as to what is happening in the party what it will culminate into.
Much has happened since the apparent crack in the PDP that shook prominent members like Atiku Abubakar to seek refuge in the ADC, however current trends indicate that a lot needs to be done to keep the party on an even keel. This is further expressed by the recent crissis across the country culminating in the gangster capture of Wadata House, the PDP headquarters.
These events have sent tongues wagging about the fate of the party in the 2027 elections. Questions are being asked and loyalties closely monitored as the party’s National Convention draws near.
Scheduled to take place on the 15 and 16th of November, the legal implications have far-reaching effects on party members, especially those nursing political ambitions. With a court ruling at hand, and the seeming balkanization of the party ,it is now aparrrent that a new figure must emerge if only to save the party. Added to this is the fact that political officeholders without hope of freely and fairly winning elections are cross-carpetting into the rival APC.
While all this is going on, old time champions of the PDP like Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa,Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and several others have been steadfast in the party’s ranks.
Hard as it may seem ,with the convention on hold due the court order ,all is not lost on a possible reconciliation or re-alignmen. These two governors and other well meaning members of the party are not resting on the oars as they continue to find a way to forge forward. Like in the past, Fintiri known for his never say never stance is not giving up so fast.
Loyalist are still on board to power the party in this turbulent moment in the party but the changing tide of Nigeria’s political drift does not seem to indicate the way the polls will go.
In Adamawa for instance the track record of Fintiri will be the major determining factor in the state. His performance in organising the last Congress of the party and its monumental success has placed him at the center of theg party’s activities. The way he handled the affair of his home state has made him an icon of statesmanship of national stature.
Fintiri and Bala Mohammed have so far shown the Northeast the way to go. The Northeast long a fringe of Nigeria is now at the center stage of national politics free from internal or external influences by long held tin gods. As it is, the PDP is in good hands, and will remain so.
By the time the dust settles, a National convention of the PDP will be held under Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and its resounding success will echo across the nation as proof of his finesse and political prowess.
I remain Kushi, where politics meet the truth I write ✍️
