*..As Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Ranks 3rd Best in Nigeria*
Oyo State Acting Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to prioritizing education development in the state.
Speaking at the 2nd combined convocation ceremony of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, on Friday, Barr. Lawal emphasized that education is crucial for human development and that the state government has been investing heavily in the sector.
He noted that the state’s budget allocates 20.88% to education, surpassing the UNESCO standard of 20%.
Barr. Lawal assured the polytechnic of continued government support, promising to address challenges, upgrade infrastructure, and regularize part-time workers.
He also emphasized the importance of technology, ICT development, and accreditation.
While congratulating the graduands, the Acting Governor urged them to utilize their knowledge, skills, and ideals to succeed.
He reminded them that their academic credentials would be judged alongside their character and life skills, advising them to take their certificates and character with them as they embark on their journey to success.
On behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, Barr. Lawal reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting education and the polytechnic, stating, “Those who have been convocated have just started. Take along your certificate and character so that success will be yours in life.””
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman, Governing Council, Adeseun Ogundoyin, Erewa, Prof.Kazeem Adebiyi who acknowledged the vast contributions of both the government, parents, staff and students’ for the Institution, urged state government to enhance TETFUND, courses’ accreditation and welfare staff for global competitiveness.
The Acting Rector, Dr. Olugbade Adewuyi Akinteye, who highlighted the institution’s achievements and challenges during the 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony, noted that the polytechnic has recorded remarkable progress, including: ranking 3rd best polytechnic in Nigeria by JAMB in 2024, accreditation of new and existing courses by NBTE, Introduction of new programs at HND level and maiden Inaugural Lecture held on May 28, 2025
According to him, the institution faces challenges, including: Manpower shortages (academic and non-academic staff) and the need for more infrastructure (lecture rooms)
The Acting Rector appealed to the government and partners for support to address these challenges and thanked the Oyo State Government for its commitment to education.
He also congratulated graduating students and charged them to utilize their knowledge and skills to serve their community and uphold integrity.
The event which had in attendance Commissioners of Education, Establishment, Segun Olayiwola; Information, Dotun Oyelade, Establishment and Training, Prof. Soliu Adelabu, and other high placed personalities, featured award of diplomas and fellowship to the three sets, and ever donors to the Institution.
