The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saki West Local Government has assured residents that political sentiments will not influence the process of land leasing in the area. This was the key resolution at the critical stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, March 14, at the country home of former Deputy Governor, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi.
Speaking on behalf of the party, stakeholders emphasized their dedication to transparency, accountability, and public scrutiny, reaffirming that all decisions regarding land leases adhere to due process.
Development Projects in Saki West
The party highlighted various strategic projects that have been delivered under the current administration, which include:
Infrastructure Development: Completion of the dual carriageway, renovation of Oyo State Agricultural Development Agency (OYSADA) facilities, ongoing stadium construction, installation of solar streetlights, and upgrade of the Saki-Ogboro road.
Healthcare and Education: Construction of a General Hospital and the recruitment of teachers and civil servants to enhance service delivery.
Community Development: Successful installation of the Okere of Saki after a five-year interregnum.
Land Lease: No Outright Sales, Due Process Followed
Addressing concerns over land leasing, the party clarified:
There is no plan for outright sale of lands; rather, leases are granted in line with due process to ensure community benefits.
An investigative panel set up by the legislative arm of the local government confirmed that all land leases followed due process.
The projects planned for the leased lands will bring significant socio-economic benefits to the community.
Commitment to Transparency
Acknowledging communication gaps that may have led to misinformation, the party assured the public of its commitment to keeping citizens informed. To foster transparency, an engagement forum will be held with key stakeholders, including:
The National Caretaker Committee of Saki Parapo
Representatives of the Okere in Council
Past Local Government Chairmen
Representatives of Saki elites
Representatives of religious organizations
Future Development Plans
In a forward-thinking move, the PDP leadership has advised the Local Government Chairman and his executive council to explore acquiring additional lands outside the town for future developmental projects.
The party urged residents to focus on building a prosperous future rather than being drawn into politically motivated criticisms. It reaffirmed its stance against blackmail and vowed to remain focused on delivering impactful governance.
“Let us love our future more than our past and present,” the communique stated, emphasizing the party’s vision for sustained growth and development in Saki West.
