Ogbomoso, Jan. 29, 2025 – The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, has commended the vision of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, Orumọgẹgẹ III, in spearheading initiatives aimed at transforming the city’s economic landscape. He made this known while delivering an address at the Ogbomoso Digital Economy Summit, held at The Great Hall, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
Describing the summit as a laudable project, Prince Oyelade hailed the traditional ruler’s progressive leadership, noting that since his coronation on December 19, 2023, Oba Olaoye had demonstrated an unwavering commitment to development, with a clearly defined 25-year roadmap for Ogbomoso.
The commissioner highlighted the unique relationship between government and traditional institutions, acknowledging that while the state relies on traditional rulers to consolidate policies at the grassroots, the laws governing chieftaincy matters place significant authority in the hands of the government. He noted that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration had installed more kings and baales than any other in Oyo’s history, with 10 kings and 40 baales enthroned since 2019.
Prince Oyelade emphasized that Oba Olaoye had gone to great lengths to engage Ogbomoso indigenes worldwide in discussions on the execution of his development agenda. The Ogbomoso Digital Economy Summit, he noted, was a testament to the monarch’s drive to position the city as a hub for technological and economic growth.
He urged the people of Ogbomoso to embrace a paradigm shift in their engagement with the state government, stressing the importance of aligning with the monarch’s vision for a prosperous future. He described Oba Olaoye as a goal-oriented and farsighted leader who must now also prove to be a pragmatic ruler for the benefit of his people.
“With Kabiyesi’s wealth of experience in business and religious leadership spanning over 30 years, if he fully harnesses his capabilities, Ogbomoso will witness radical transformation within the first decade of his reign,” Prince Oyelade asserted.
He concluded by calling on the people of Ogbomoso to rally behind their traditional leader, recognizing him as their voice and intermediary with the state and the world at large.
