In a bid to unearth and nurture young football talents in Oyo State, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, played host to a scouting team from Ikon Allah Academy and Black Scorpion FC. The team, which included Ikon Allah Football Club President, Ayi Muhammed, and seasoned Israeli football agent Roni Layous, stopped by to discuss the upcoming football scouting tournament.
Scheduled to take place at the Olubadan Stadium on October 23-24, 2024, the scouting tournament is an initiative of the office of the former Minister for Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare. The program aims to provide a platform for talented young footballers to showcase their skills and potentially secure spots in the international football scene.
Honourable Adegoke reiterated the Engr Seyi Makinde-led administration’s commitment to supporting sports development in Oyo State, emphasizing the importance of grassroots initiatives. She noted that the state’s vast talent pool can drive success for generations to come.
“We are dedicated to creating opportunities for our youth to excel in sports,” Honourable Adegoke said. “This scouting tournament is a crucial step in identifying and nurturing the next generation of football stars.”
Roni Layous, the Israeli football agent, expressed enthusiasm about discovering new talent in Oyo State. “We’re excited to partner with Ikon Allah Academy and the Oyo State Government to uncover the hidden gems of Nigerian football.”
