Oyo Acting Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has decorated his convoy excort commander, Mr Adekunle Odejimi, with his new rank of Superintendent of Police 1.
The brief ceremony that took place at the Governor’s office on Monday, was witnessed by the Governor’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), CSP Adepetu Ayodeji, SP Ayodeji Ogundele, as well as Mrs Damilola Odejimi, who is also a police officer and wife of the celebrant.
During the ceremony, the acting Governor who congratulated the gallant and distinguished officer for his elevation, noted how exciting it was to be decorated with a new rank.
He described SP Odejimi as a proud officer who is always attune to his job saying, “He’s always well kitted, always at alert, and actually fit running despite his age.”
The acting Governor said: “I am not so surprised that this promotion is coming. And I need to congratulate you once again on this new promotion.
“I could remember that last week when we travelled to Lagos, Abuja and and other places, at the airport, I was observing all the police officers in the convoy and I was impressed with the way ASP Odejimi was kitted and proud of his job despite his age. This is one of the good things that really defines you.”
ASP Odejimi expressed his gratitude to God for his new rank and specially thanked the acting governor for finding time to decorate him.
He also thanked the members of the Deputy Governor’s office for joining him in celebrating the promotion.
Barr. Lawal however urged him and other police officers to keep working hard and be dedicated to their duty stressing that people are watching them.
