Former first lady of Oyo State Chief Mrs Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja in a statement today, has commiserated with the victims, people and government of Oyo State over the unfortunate explosion that claimed lives, injured several people and destroyed properties in Ibadan yesterday.
The explosion, which occurred in the residential area of Bodija in Ibadan last night resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of properties.
Mrs Ladoja, in a personal message, sympathised with the families of dead persons, and those who lost properties in the explosion.
She emphasised the importance of personal safety in “everything that we do, stressing that we as a people should be alive to our responsibilities in the area of security, as we should always report anything suspicious to the appropriate authorities, remarking that certain disaster ” would have been averted “if safety and security rules had been observed”.
The People’s Democratic Party, Board of Trustees member, commended the Oyo state government led by Engr. Seyi Makinde for quickly bringing the situation under control in the aftermath of the explosion.stating that Governor Seyi Makinde’s, prompt response to the tragic incident, and the humanitarian support immediately deployed, went a long way in providing succor to the victims and residents, and useful to all relevant agencies that coordinated the rescue efforts.
She praised the governor for activating relevant agencies to cater for victims and other affected residents within a reasonable time frame after the incident.
She, Prayed that Oyo State will not witness such terrible event again and the soul of the departed to rest in peace, while wishing those in the hospital a quick recovery.
